We are seeking a Senior Systems Design Engineer / Principal Systems Engineer with a background in electronics or electro-mechanical design for high technology, low volume scientific instrumentation (or similar high-tech applications). As Senior/Principal Systems Engineer, you will be a key member of the R&D team and responsible for full system design and integration. You will ensure all electro-mechanical systems fully meet the individual customers' requirements and continue to monitor the evolution of these systems to ensure they remain the best of their type available anywhere in the world. This role requires someone with strong systems design and integration experience of bespoke electro-mechanical or optical instrumentation.
The successful candidate must have a strong scientific or engineering background in order to understand the fundamental physics of the products and relate effectively to clients and experts within the company. The individual must have the ability to comprehend the complete sequence of design, build, test and customer acceptance and have the drive to ensure the system is delivered on time and to specification.
* Good BEng/MEng degree or MSc in Physics, Optics, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar relevant Scientific/Engineering field.
* Background in some or all of the following:
o Specialist instrumentation or machine design-and-build
o Custom design of high technology production systems
o Prototyping of complex electro-mechanical or optical systems or processes
o Project management of sophisticated production systems, instrumentation or processes
