Academic Mentor | ASAP Start | Thurrock, Essex Are you a recent Maths graduate hoping to gain school experience before committing to teacher training? Do you have previous experience working with young people or vulnerable individuals? If so, then this Academic Mentor position within a positive, state-of-the-art secondary school in Thurrock might be for you! ** Academic Mentor position in 'Good' school ** Role interviewing now with successful candidate to start ASAP ** Thurrock based school - Only car drivers with access to a vehicle can be considered due to location ** £55-£65 daily pay rate, paid weekly (negotiable based on experience) ** Position contracted until July 2018 ** Potential salaried School Direct position available from September 2018 This post requires a dynamic Maths graduate with an upper second class degree at the very least. Ideally you will have previous experience within a school environment though experience working with young and vulnerable people will be considered as relevant. You will be confident in your abilities, proactive and able to build relationships quickly. This role will see you support a number of students in the lead up to their GCSE's, both individually in class and within small group booster sessions. As such you will need to be a strong communicator with the ability to simplify problems, supported by your excellent subject knowledge. It is essential for you to possess a genuine enthusiasm for education and a true desire to be a teacher. You will be building towards securing a place on the salaried School Direct programme through your hard-work, passion and genuine interest in teaching. At this forward thinking school, within your role as an Academic Mentor you will be supported by a welcoming department and receive direct mentoring from an inspiring Director of Maths.
